What is Kindred Travel?

Kindred Travel is a Service that will arrange and pay for return travel costs, accommodation and incidental expenses, in the event a close relative, living more than 150 miles from your Home, suffers a serious accident or illness, or passes away. Kindred Travel is not an insurance policy, it is a Membership Benefit

What's included in the Membership?

Kindred Travel will arrange and pay for flights / transportation to the country where your relative is, being a minimum of 150 miles from your home (so long as legally allowed to do so), and provide accommodation and meals for up to $150 per day. We will cover costs up to US$25,000 in all, but do not cover the costs of Visas or Consular Services.

How do I take out a Service?

Go to the 'our packages' section of this site and select the Membership level that you require.

Are there any age restrictions for taking the Service?

There are no age restrictions on Members. (We highly recommend that you have adequate Travel Insurance.) A 'close relative' / 'additional person' must be under 75 years of age.

Are pre-existing medical conditions excluded?

The only coverage excluded is illness, that occurs within the first three months, after the membership starts. See the terms and conditions for the full definition.

What if we find out about the emergency in the middle of the night?

No need to wait those agonising few hours before calling us, our call center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so you can contact us at any time and we'll start making arrangements immediately.

When can I fly?

We will arrange flights as soon as reasonably possible. This could be the same day or an agreed time, within 30 days of the claim being made.

How do I claim?

In the event of a claim you must contact Kindred Travel Claims as soon as possible. Please call 1-866-930-9805 toll free in U.S and Canada or call collect:1-603-328-1964 from all other locations.
On Call International is available 24 hours a day. Please give the name of the close relative, your contact number, the name and phone number of the hospital, your Kindred Travel Membership number and the nature of the emergency.

Who can become a member?

No matter where you live or your nationality, you can become a member and cover your 'close relatives' living more than 150 miles away.

How much does it cost?

Annual Fees start at $174 for a single membership, $210 for a couple's membership, and $294 for a Family membership. An instant quotation is available on this web site.

Can I take out the Membership to include an additional person e.g. friend, colleague, Godparent'?

Yes you can. When you have decided on the Service that you wish to purchase you can cover additional relatives e.g. grandparents (under 75), nephew and nieces, and or friends with the single, couple or family product.

Dependent Child(ren)

Dependent Child(ren) means a child who is under 19 years of age or under 26 years of age if a full-time student; or a child of any age who is medically certified by a Legally Qualified Physician as having an intellectual disability or a physical disability and is dependent upon the Member.

Who is a "Close Relative"?

The definition is: "Family Member" or "Close Relative" means persons under 75 years of age who are your legal spouse or common-law spouse, domestic partner, same-sex spouse where legal; legal guardian; son or daughter (adopted, foster or step); son-in-law; daughter-in-law; mother, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, brother, step-brother; sister; step-sister; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; or step-parent.

How long must a Close Relative be hospitalized before I can claim?

You can file a claim immediately and travel as soon as the claim is authorized, but benefits are not payable for hospital stays less than 5 days.

Do I have to pay for the flights?

No Kindred Travel will arrange for these payments.

Are there any other Membership Benefits available?

Yes. In addition to the Emergency Travel Assistance, we also offer a service to provide for the return of mortal remains in the event of a Member’s death outside of his or her Country of Residence or designated burial home (must be a minimum of 150 miles from your Home). Please visit the Repatriation pages of this site for full details of this benefit.
